Director of Engineering

Lead the Engineering Operations Behind Exceptional Hospitality

Prospera Hospitality is seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Director of Engineering to oversee engineering and maintenance operations for the Hilton Austin Airport.

This leadership position is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, safety, and preservation of all hotel's physical assets. The Director of Engineering will work closely with the General Manager, Regional Leadership, and property team to drive operational excellence, asset protection, regulatory compliance, preventative maintenance initiatives, and capital improvement projects. There will be opportunity to assist across the Prospera Portfolio of hotels and restaurants.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a passion for maintaining exceptional hotel environments that enhance both guest satisfaction and team member success.

Who We Are:

The recently refreshed Hilton is in the historic Air Force command building right on Austin-Bergstrom International Airport property.  We are proud to be Austin's gateway full-service hotel.  The hotel is managed by Pittsburgh, PA based Prospera Hospitality, with over 20 years of property management experience in hotels, restaurants, and convention centers.  

Essential Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

· Provide leadership and strategic direction to engineering and maintenance team.

· Recruit, train, mentor, and develop engineering personnel.

· Establish performance expectations, accountability standards, and development plans.

· Foster a culture of safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Property Maintenance & Asset Management

Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all building systems, including:

· HVAC

· Electrical

· Plumbing

· Mechanical systems

· Refrigeration equipment

· Fire and life safety systems

· Kitchen and laundry equipment

· Building infrastructure

· Ensure preventative maintenance programs are effectively implemented and documented.

· Conduct property assessments and identify opportunities to improve facility performance and asset longevity.

· Ensure work orders and maintenance requests are completed timely and effectively.

· At times, provide technical guidance for engineering operations across designated Prospera Hospitality properties.

· At times, conduct site visits to assess facility conditions and operational standards.

· Support General Managers in identifying and prioritizing maintenance and capital needs.

Financial & Capital Planning

· Develop and manage engineering department budgets.

· Monitor labor, utility, and maintenance expenditures.

· Identify opportunities for cost savings, energy efficiency, and sustainability improvements.

· Assist in the planning, budgeting, and execution of capital projects and renovations.

· Review contractor proposals, negotiate vendor agreements, and ensure project completion within scope and budget.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with:

· Hilton brand standards

· OSHA requirements

· Local, state, and federal regulations

· Fire and life safety standards

· Environmental regulations

· Building codes

· Lead hotel emergency preparedness programs and response initiatives.

· Maintain all required permits, inspections, certifications, and compliance documentation.

· Partner with property leadership to reduce risk and support a safe environment for guests and team members.

· Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering leadership experience.

· Previous experience as a Director of Engineering, Assistant Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer, or equivalent leadership role.

· Strong working knowledge of hotel mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.

· Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and capital improvement projects.

· Knowledge of OSHA regulations and building compliance standards.

· Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

· Occasional travel to other Prospera locations to provide guidance on projects and infrastructure.

· Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when operationally necessary.

Preferred

· Hilton brand experience strongly preferred.

· Multi-property engineering management experience.

· Engineering-related degree, certification, or trade license.

· Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain.

· Experience in both full-service and focused-service hotel environments.

· Experience working in union and non-union settings.
